How Graphic Designer Can Start Online Business?

If you run an online business, you need to create eye-catching content that can attract people to it. With a strong copy, you sometimes need to be seen to deliver your points home. And for all of us who are not designers, that can be intimidating.

Programs like InDesign and Photoshop aren’t right for newbies, and most of us don’t have the time to throw ourselves and learn a new set of new skills while trying to grow our businesses. That said, not all hope is lost. There are many resources for creators who want to create a DIY design for their businesses. Are you interested in online business without investment?

This blog post is intended for beginners, and I will take you through Canva, a free design program, to create DIY graphics. Here’s an in-depth look at what this blog post will include:

  • What Canva is and why it is suitable for tour creators
  • The types of graphics you may need for your business
  • Creating static and worded images in Canva
  • Tips for Designing Simple Drawings
  • Canva is a great platform that you can use to create graphics on social media sites like Pinterest.

What is a Canva?

Canva is great for non-designers because the templates make creating graphics as easy as dragging and dropping objects into their pre-defined locations. Of course, if you feel creative, you do not need to use templates, but they are certainly very useful. It has plug-and-play templates that make it easy to create, as well as a resource library that you can use in your design.

Like most free programs, you can upgrade to Canva for business if you are in the market for advanced features. I don’t think that’s necessary for beginners, so we won’t go into why people would choose to improve.

Canva For Design

Canva is easy to use, and even if you have never played with it before, it takes 10 minutes or more to get the hang of the basics.

Warning time: I go to this blog post section thinking you have never used or seen Canva. If not, click here to skip this post section. If you go to the Canva homepage, you will come across an option to choose from their most popular templates. These are great because they are designed to increase the size of each different platform.

For example, the YouTube icon thumbnail size is 1280 x 720, which means that when you upload it to YouTube, nothing will be cut. If you do not see the template you need, you can click the merge icon to the far left and you will be redirected to a page with a selection and platform size page.

If you still can’t find the size you need, in the top right corner, you will have the option to customize the size. In order to show you the entry and exit of Canva, we will pretend to be doing posts on Instagram with Canva. After selecting the Instagram post option in the menu, we are taken to a page that looks like this:

From there, I found an option in the template or created my own design. In the sidebar, you have six different tabs to choose from. Search, Properties, Properties, Text, Background, and Uploads. Search explains it well. If you want to find a stock image or image, use the search bar and type in your keywords. Canva has free options, as well as the option to purchase stock photos, too.

Properties are the default tab selected, and this is where all the templates are installed. If you want to create an eye-catching image without thinking too much about it, use one of the technology-designed structures. Like stock photography, there is a combination of free and paid options.

Canva has a wide range of fonts, too, to keep your designs from looking too ordinary. The background gives you the option to change the pattern and color background of the image. There are a ton of patterns to choose from to add texture and visual interest to your design.

Uploading is where you can upload custom items to your Canva account. The good thing about this section is that once they are uploaded they will remain in your account permanently. It’s a good idea to keep your PNG logo, headshots, and other business stuff here.

Canva works mainly by dragging and dropping elements wherever you want them to go in your DIY drawings. I dragged and threw this statue into my design section. Now, I want to customize this a bit by changing the text and background color to something better than the teachable Brand. If you love graphic design, make graphic design is your passion.

The first thing I will do is click anywhere behind the red background of the image. Not much will happen but you will see a red box appear in the top sidebar of the editor. From there, I found the option to drag and drop the finder around, or I could type a hex code. Looking at the instructional product guidelines, I found the hex code for the bright purple color I decided to use.

Now, I want to change the text. This is as simple as double-clicking the text area and deciding what I want to say. Finally, when I’m happy with the way my measure looks, I can download it by clicking the download button in the top right-hand corner. Make sure you download regularly using high resolution so that the images do not look grainy.

DIY graphic design that you may need for your business

Now, as a course designer you might be wondering, what drawings do I need for my online business?

It is easy to be satisfied with just a memory and call it a day. Visualization makes your product more enjoyable and helps attract people inside. Here are a few suggestions on how to create your own product material:

  • In the Twitter header to show your branding
  • Instagram graphics
  • YouTube channel thumbnails
  • Custom Pinterest pins
  • Instagram feed

Now, that’s just a piece of snow, but hopefully, your creative wheels are turning. Fortunately, as we saw earlier, Canva has options tailored to almost all of your DIY graphic design needs. When you think about your online earning here are some xtreme look earning ideas for the types of simple graphic designs you can build on Canva:

Creating images with the corresponding logo on Canva. Most people avoid using template sites because they do not want their content to be the same as everyone else’s. While that is a legitimate fear, the key to making your DIY drawings stand out and feel truly like yours is by creating a consistent style guide.

Style guides are texts that you can refer to when deciding which colors, fonts, or images should be included in your drawings. Using color palettes and fonts makes your product memorable.
