Mistakes People Do Maintain Stone Floors By Using Aluminum Wheel Polishing Machine

Mistakes People Do By Using Aluminum Wheel Polishing Machine

Stone floors are popular as they have been in use for many years. The range of shades and colors, the practicality, durability, and relative ease of maintenance along with their abundance in nature have made them a perpetual choice of flooring material. They are somehow indestructible and they are easy to look after and maintain however, there are a few pitfalls to avoid.

Following are some common mistakes people make when they care for their floors.

Lack of Dust Mats By Aluminum Wheel Polishing Machine

Grit is the number 1 enemy of every floor, let alone just stone. Every flooring stuff will go through wear and tear, it’s only a matter of time. If you have to take two diamonds and rub them against each other, they will both wear.

Everyday grit, stuck on shoes can have every kind of mineral-like quartz. Walk with this and your floor will scratch and dull. The solution is to abolish grit, any way possible and one of the best solutions is to place a dust-collecting mat outside the door.

If you put another inside, then you will give your floor a better chance of avoiding harmful grit.

Walking on Stone Floor wearing Out-Door Shoes

This is of course related to the first point. If your premises have a polished fancy wooden floor or an expensive carpet, can you take your shoes off? Obviously no.

We all have a tendency to instinctively understand how to remain careful on other flooring materials and while giving them the deserving respect. Thus, the stone is no different and it demands love and respect as well. Therefore, take your shoes off and put slippers on, and in this way, you cannot bring harmful grit onto the floor.

Over-Mopping

Some people seem to wash their floor to death; kind of floor-cleaning nerds. The more you wash with strong detergents and don’t effectively rinse, (see point #6), the more chance you will leave residues, which make the floor look lifeless and dull.

Most often, all you need is a regular sweeping or dry cleaning using a soft brush or microfiber floor duster or vacuuming. This will help in keeping grit off the floor.

Not attending to Accidents and Spills right away

Somehow, we are inclined to treat stone floors differently; unlike wood or carpet. For example, if we have an expensive carpet and something spills on it such as a glass of wine, would we sit and just see it becoming a stain? 100% not.

Well, providing ‘reaction time’ is every sealer do for stone. Similar to the carpet, if we spill anything, we should absorb it up immediately; especially if the spilled thing is wine or some other acidic liquid.

We spill contaminants not ‘stains’. Also, when we leave contaminants for a length of time to fill the stone, they become stains. If the floor is sealed with a good sealer using an aluminum wheel polishing machine, we get a bit more reaction time. Stains can be prevented by taking care of accidents and spills as they happen.

Wrong choice of cleaner for routine cleaning

It is easy to buy over-the-counter shelf floor cleaner from a supermarket. However, a majority of these have high pH cleaners and are strong de-greasers, intended for deep cleaning floors. Further, it is a human tendency to ignore directions and make them a bit strong. There are many reasons for these dilution rates and instructions but even more necessary, there is no need to use such chemicals for weekly or everyday cleaning.

When the floor needs a quick wash, no problem, we only need to ensure to use a neutral cleaner, which is one having a pH value of around 7 to 8. There are so many out there and every one is designed to gently clean with no harmful effects on the floor or any finish that might be applied.

Carrying on with the old routine

Every now and then, your floor needs a little intensive care; something we call ‘Periodic Deep-Clean’. From time to time the floor needs a deeper and labor-intensive clean. This is the time where you need to use alkaline cleaners. However, use one that is designed for stone rather than simply going for the cheap supermarket brand.

The keyword to remember here is dwell time. These cleaners should be left on the floor for a 5-15 minute period; on average. The biggest mistake users make is to do floor mop with the high pH detergent.

Ignore dwell time otherwise you will be wasting your effort and time. The cleaners require time to work. They need to be scrubbed or agitated, as we do not do this every week. We do this only a couple of times every year so we can afford the time to do it properly.

Leaving the floor wet

Have you noticed what happens after floor washing, if they are left to dry organically? Smears and streaks.

Many stone floors are smooth or even polished through a metal buffering machine. As a result, they behave in a similar way as glass. Thus, after floor rinsing, it is a good practice to dry down the floor through a micro-fiber cloth or an absorbent cotton towel. A buffing floor dries like this will remove the remaining moisture.

Ignoring Little Stains

If we avoid reacting fast enough to spills (mistake #4) we end up having a stain. If we ignore that stain continually, pretty soon the floor can deeply look ingrained and grubby in general. For small isolated stains, try a localized poultice stain remover.
